Itanagar, Feb 26: Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar emphasized Arunachal Pradesh's immense potential to shape India's energy future, highlighting its capacity to generate 50,000 megawatts (MW) of hydropower. Speaking at the Nyokum Yullo festival of the Nyishi tribe in Boasimla, Kamle district, Dhankhar underlined the state's strategic role in the nation's energy security.
During his address, he stressed the cultural significance of indigenous festivals, stating that they play a crucial role in preserving the heritage and traditions of tribal communities.
Hailing India's rapid economic progress, Dhankhar described the country as the fastest-growing economy, citing infrastructure and social welfare advancements. He also pointed out that Arunachal Pradesh's hydropower sector presents a massive investment opportunity worth ₹5 lakh crore.
The Vice President and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju inaugurated a multipurpose indoor hall in Boasimla.
In a special recognition, Dhankhar felicitated Kabak Yano, the first woman from the Nyishi community to conquer Mt. Everest, celebrating her remarkable achievement.
Adding to the cultural fervor, he actively participated in the Rikham Pada dance, a traditional performance of the Nyishi community, demonstrating his engagement with local traditions.
