Budaun, Uttar Pradesh | May 20, 2025 — A 40-year-old ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) worker was found dead under suspicious circumstances in a maize field in Alapur area of Budaun district. Authorities suspect the possibility of sexual assault and have launched a multi-team investigation into the case.
Body Found in Semi-Naked Condition
The deceased, identified as Rajkumari, was discovered late Monday night in a semi-naked state in a field near Kharkholi village, under the jurisdiction of Alapur police station. Police officials were alerted to the incident through the UP 112 emergency helpline.A forensic team was immediately dispatched to the scene, and the body was sent for a postmortem examination to confirm the exact cause of death. Officials indicated that further information would depend on the autopsy report.
Last Seen Returning from Vaccination Drive
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Brijesh Singh, Rajkumari, a resident of Hayatnagar village, had been in Kundan Nagla village on Monday as part of a vaccination drive. She was last seen in the evening traveling back to her village on a scooty with a known ANM (Auxiliary Nurse Midwife). After that, she reportedly went missing.Family Dispute and Investigation Updates
Rajkumari was married to Raghvendra Jatav in 2003 after the death of his first wife. Together, they had two sons and a daughter. Raghvendra also has a son from his previous marriage.SSP Singh noted that Rajkumari had been involved in an active land dispute against two individuals from the same village, and the case was pending in a Budaun civil court. Following suspicions raised by the family, police have detained two individuals for questioning.
Multiple Teams Formed for Probe
The district police chief confirmed that four separate investigation teams, including members from the Special Operations Group (SOG) and surveillance units, have been formed to probe the case from all angles.“Further legal proceedings are underway,” SSP Singh stated, adding that authorities are committed to ensuring a thorough and speedy investigation.
