Commercial vehicle manufacturer Ashok Leyland recorded a modest growth of 2% year-on-year (YoY) in its overall vehicle sales for February 2025, reaching a total of 17,903 units. The company had sold 17,632 units during the same period last year.
Despite the overall rise, Ashok Leyland experienced a decline in domestic sales. The company reported a 4% drop in sales within India, selling 15,879 units in February compared to 16,619 units in February 2024.
Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles Sales Decline
Ashok Leyland's medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) segment faced significant headwinds, with sales falling by 7% YoY. Domestic sales in this category dipped to 10,110 units, down from 10,912 units reported in the same month last year.Growth in Light Commercial Vehicle Segment
On a positive note, Ashok Leyland saw growth in its light commercial vehicle (LCV) sales. The LCV segment registered a slight uptick of 1% YoY, with 5,769 units sold in February 2025.This mixed performance highlights ongoing challenges in the medium and heavy vehicle markets, while also indicating steady demand for lighter commercial vehicles.
