
Guwahati, Feb 27 – Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma held a meeting with Bhutan’s Agriculture and Livestock Minister Younten Phuntsho on Thursday, focusing on enhancing bilateral cooperation in key sectors.
Sarma described the interaction as insightful, highlighting discussions on fostering collaboration between Assam and Bhutan in agriculture, trade, tourism, education, and power. "It was a pleasure to host Hon'ble Agriculture and Livestock Minister of Bhutan, H.E. Mr. Younten Phuntsho. We had insightful discussions on strengthening cooperation between Assam and Bhutan in shared growth areas," he shared in a post on X.
Phuntsho was in Guwahati to participate in the Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit, which concluded on Wednesday. During the summit, he emphasized Bhutan’s efforts to develop an economy that retains its youth while also attracting global investment.
Acknowledging India’s critical role in Bhutan’s growth, Phuntsho specifically noted the importance of Assam, with which Bhutan shares a 260-km-long border, in fostering economic and infrastructural development.
The discussions reflect the growing strategic and economic ties between Assam and Bhutan, paving the way for enhanced cross-border collaboration.
