CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Pledges Support for Soldiers’ Families Amid Ongoing Conflict
Guwahati, May 10 — In a gesture of solidarity with the Indian armed forces amid ongoing military tensions, the Assam Government has announced a series of austerity measures and pledged extensive support for the families of soldiers from the state.Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made the announcement during a press conference on Saturday, marking the completion of four years of his government. Prior to the media interaction, Sarma chaired a state cabinet meeting to finalise the measures.
“In view of the prevailing situation, the state cabinet has decided to suspend all seminars, conferences, workshops, and commemorative events,” said Sarma, emphasizing the government's resolve to stand with the forces.
Statewide Initiative to Support Soldiers’ Families
As part of the initiative, district officials across Assam will be directed to identify the families of serving soldiers and form dedicated support groups to assist them.“We want to take care of the family members of the soldiers till they return from the battlefield, so that our brave men and women at the war front are free from any personal concern,” the Chief Minister stated.
Coordination with Armed Forces for Troop Movement
Highlighting Assam’s strategic importance, Sarma noted that army and air force camps are operational in the state and across the northeastern region, with ongoing troop movements. He said he has instructed all district commissioners to maintain close coordination with armed forces officials to facilitate smooth operations.The measures reflect Assam's commitment to national security and its continued support to those defending the nation.
