New Delhi, Feb 3 (PTI): The Delhi government has announced a public holiday on February 5, coinciding with the voting day for the Delhi Assembly elections. This move ensures that citizens can participate in the electoral process without work-related constraints.

As per a notification issued by the General Administration Department, Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena confirmed that all government and private sector offices across the national capital will remain closed on the day of polling. The holiday will also be applicable to local and autonomous bodies, as well as public sector undertakings under the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi.

The elections for the 70-member Delhi Assembly are scheduled for February 5, with vote counting set to take place on February 8. The declaration of a public holiday aims to facilitate a higher voter turnout, enabling residents to exercise their democratic right.
