Avinash Tiwary and Medha Shankr to Headline Ginny Weds Sunny 2; Filming Begins in Uttarakhand

Mumbai, May 14 – The sequel to the 2020 romantic comedy Ginny Weds Sunny is officially in the works, with actors Avinash Tiwary and Medha Shankr taking on the lead roles. The film’s makers announced on Wednesday.

Titled Ginny Weds Sunny 2, the sequel is written and directed by Prasshant Jha and produced by Vinod Bachchan under the banner of Soundrya Production. Filming is currently underway in the scenic locales of Uttarakhand.

Avinash Tiwary, known for Madgaon Express, and Medha Shankar, who garnered acclaim for her performance in 12th Fail, shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse from the sets on Instagram, featuring the movie’s clapboard.

A New Chapter with a Fresh Pairing​

Producer Vinod Bachchan expressed enthusiasm for revisiting the Ginny Weds Sunny universe with a renewed narrative and cast.

“The love the first film received encouraged us to explore new narratives and characters. With Avinash and Medha, we’ve found a refreshing and dynamic pairing,” said Bachchan, who is also known for Tanu Weds Manu and Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana.
