Mumbai, May 12 — In a significant boost to India's shooting sports ecosystem, Lakshya Shooting Club (LSC) has entered into a strategic partnership with Axis Bank to establish a world-class High Performance Centre (HPC) in Navi Mumbai. The new facility will be named the 'Axis Bank Lakshya Shooting Club High Performance Centre', acknowledging the leading private bank’s involvement in this venture.
A Landmark MoU to Advance Shooting Excellence
Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Axis Bank will provide both financial and developmental support to LSC. The goal is to create a holistic training ecosystem that will support emerging and elite-level shooting talent from across the country.The centre will feature:
- Two state-of-the-art shooting ranges for air rifle, air pistol, and simulated 50m rifle events
- An integrated sports science centre offering performance analysis, injury prevention, and recovery services
- A dedicated sports psychology unit to promote emotional and mental well-being
- Residential facilities for athletes and coaches
- Additional training infrastructure to support long-term athlete development
Creating a Nurturing Ground for Olympic Talent
With a vision to groom Olympic-level shooters, the HPC aims to host over 400 athletes annually, including both resident and non-resident trainees. Beyond physical training, the facility will also focus on community engagement and talent scouting, making the sport more accessible and inclusive.Notably, the centre is designed to be fully para-friendly, accommodating and supporting para-athletes, including participants from the Paralympics and Deaflympics.
Founded by Olympian Suma Shirur
LSC, the driving force behind this initiative, was founded by celebrated Olympian Suma Shirur. The club has long been recognized as a premier training ground for young shooters in India, and this new partnership marks a significant step in its evolution.With Axis Bank’s backing, the Axis Bank Lakshya Shooting Club High Performance Centre is set to become a national hub for excellence in shooting sports.
