Chandigarh, February 11 The legal counsel for Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa stated on Wednesday that the leader of the opposition in the Punjab Assembly did not make any objectionable remarks against Minister Harbhajan Singh.
Bajwa's denial came through his counsel Arvind Kumar Sachdeva, who appeared before the chairman of the Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission in a case regarding his alleged objectionable remarks against Harbhajan Singh.
Bajwa was summoned by Commission Chairman Jasvir Singh Garhi for an explanation regarding his remarks.
Sachdeva, who appeared with a written reply on behalf of Bajwa, presented clarification and stated that the Congress leader did not make any caste-sensitive remarks.
Garhi also mentioned that some other supporting documents along with his clarification were also presented.
Sachdeva informed that Bajwa is out of Punjab and they should be given 15 more days to provide additional submissions, if any.
Garhi said that while accepting the request of Bajwa's lawyer, the next date for the hearing has been fixed as February 26.
During the hearing, he also said a legal opinion will be taken on the documents submitted by Bajwa through his counsel and only after that a decision will be taken in this matter.
Bajwa has been under fire from the ruling AAP over his remark against Singh.
While accusing Singh of indulging in corruption, the LoP had said that the Congress would take him to task after it forms the government.
"Whoever used to play the band, will be taken to task by us," Bajwa had said, referring to Singh.
The minister hit back, saying mocking honest, hard-earned livelihoods is shameful. He said his father was a band master who educated his children through sheer hard work.
