Ballia, February 26: A district court in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, has sentenced two men to life imprisonment for the murder of a man in 2020. District and Sessions Judge Amit Pal Singh delivered the verdict on Tuesday.

The convicts, Jitendra and Dharmendra, were found guilty of shooting and killing Hiraman in Bagdaura village in November 2020, reportedly due to personal enmity. The case was registered at Nagara police station following a complaint by Hiraman's son, Sintu.

According to the prosecution, six individuals were initially named in the FIR, leading to a thorough investigation. Following the probe, police filed a chargesheet against all six accused. However, four of them were acquitted due to a lack of sufficient evidence.

Superintendent of Police Omveer Singh confirmed that the court sentenced Jitendra and Dharmendra to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹20,000 each. Failure to pay the fine would result in an additional year in prison.

This verdict concludes the case, highlighting the judicial system's role in delivering justice.
