Agartala, Feb 5 (PTI) – The Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala, Tripura, has announced that it will resume visa and consular services from Wednesday, February 7, after a two-month suspension.
The mission had halted its services on December 3 following an incident in which a group of protesters stormed the premises. The protest was in response to the arrest of Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das in Dhaka, Bangladesh. As a result of the breach, three police officers were suspended, and Bangladesh's Assistant High Commissioner in Agartala, Arif Mahamad, was summoned to Dhaka for further discussions.
"All visa and consular services will be resumed on February 5," Md Al Amin, First Secretary at the Bangladesh Assistant High Commissioner's office in Agartala, confirmed in a notice issued on Tuesday.
To ensure safety and prevent further disruptions, security measures around the mission have been heightened by the local police, authorities said.
