Court Delivers Life Term to Husband in Shocking 2021 Murder Case
Bareilly, May 18 — In a harrowing case of domestic violence, a court in Bareilly has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for the death of his wife, whom he starved to death in 2021.Additional District and Sessions Judge Gyanendra Tripathi delivered the verdict on Saturday, sentencing the accused, Manoj, and imposing a fine of ₹10,000.
According to Additional District Government Advocate (ADGC) Sunil Pandey, the incident took place in Kareli village, where Manoj locked his wife, Mamta, inside a room without food or water for an entire week following a domestic quarrel.
The crime came to light when neighbours reported a foul odour coming from the house. Upon arrival, police discovered Mamta's decomposed body wrapped in a blanket and hidden under a bed. A case was promptly registered by Mamta’s father against Manoj.
The court, after evaluating allthe evidence, concluded that Mamta died due to starvation and dehydration.
The judgment marks a stern stance against domestic abuse and sends a clear message on the consequences of such brutality.
