Bengaluru transport officials seize 30 luxury cars for plying without paying taxes

Bengaluru, Feb 3 (PTI): In a major crackdown on tax evasion, the Bengaluru Transport Department has seized 30 luxury vehicles for operating in the state without paying the mandatory taxes, officials reported on Monday.

The operation, conducted on Sunday, targeted high-end cars, including Ferrari, Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Austin, and Range Rover, which were found plying in the city without proper tax compliance.

Led by Transport Deputy Commissioner C. Mallikarjun, the enforcement team consisted of 41 officials, including Regional Transport Officers B. Srinivas Prasad, Deepak, Srinivasappa, and Ranjit.

“These vehicles were being driven in the state without fulfilling their tax obligations. A notice has been issued to recover approximately ₹3 crore in unpaid taxes from the owners of the seized cars,” a senior transport department official stated.

The transport department continues to crack down on tax violations as part of its ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with state regulations.
