Congress Leader Accuses AAP of Fielding Sanjeev Arora Reluctantly to Clear Path for Kejriwal
Ludhiana, May 18 — Intensifying the political drama ahead of the Ludhiana West assembly bypoll, Congress candidate Bharat Bhushan Ashu launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday, accusing its leadership of manipulating the electoral process to secure a Rajya Sabha seat for Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.Ashu, who is also the Punjab Congress’s working president, claimed that his real contest was not against AAP’s candidate Sanjeev Arora, but against Kejriwal himself, who, according to him, is seeking a "backdoor entry" into the Rajya Sabha from Punjab.
“Arora Is Being Sacrificed”: Ashu Alleges Internal Resistance Within AAP
Addressing multiple public meetings across the constituency, the former cabinet minister asserted that Arora was initially unwilling to contest and had “put up strong resistance” due to his awareness of AAP’s waning popularity on the ground.“Everyone knows Sanjeev Arora was reluctant. The AAP forced him into the fray just to vacate the seat later for Kejriwal,” Ashu alleged. “In the process, they are sacrificing poor Arora,” he added.
He further claimed that Arora had already sensed that the ground had “slipped out” from beneath the AAP in Ludhiana West.
Hooch Tragedy, Crime Surge Reflects Lawlessness: Congress Slams AAP Governance
Targeting the AAP government over the recent hooch tragedy in Amritsar, Ashu accused the administration of gross negligence. “People are dying after consuming spurious liquor, yet the ruling party claims to have eradicated drugs,” he said.He also raised concerns over rising lawlessness, saying incidents of snatchings and ransom calls had become “routine,” with criminals operating without fear.
“The AAP has not only failed to fulfill its promises, but it has also pushed the state into anarchy,” Ashu declared.
