Thiruvananthapuram, March 2 — Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar praised India’s remarkable economic growth over the past decade, stating that the country has emerged as the fastest-growing global economy during this period. His remarks came during the 4th P Parameswaran Memorial Lecture, organized by the Bharatheeya Vichara Kendra in the city.
Reflecting on his earlier political career, Dhankar shared that during his tenure as a Member of Parliament in 1989 and later as a Union Minister in 1991, the national economic landscape lacked the positive outlook seen today. "At that time, the atmosphere did not inspire us," Dhankar recalled. "Now, our Bharat is brimming with positivity and possibility. It is full of hope and aspirations. All around us, we can see an ecosystem of hope and potential."
The Vice President emphasized that in the last decade, India had experienced an exponential economic surge. He pointed out that India, now the fifth-largest global economy, is rapidly moving toward becoming a USD 4 trillion economy. "With an average growth rate of 8 percent, Bharat has been the fastest-growing economy in the world over the last decade," Dhankar added.
His remarks highlighted the nation’s growing optimism, signifying India's shift towards a new era of economic progress and global influence.
