Patna, March 3: Ahead of Bihar's crucial assembly elections later this year, the Nitish Kumar-led government presented a substantial Rs 3.17 lakh crore state budget in the assembly on Monday. Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Samrat Choudhary introduced the budget, highlighting a significant increase of Rs 38,169 crore compared to the previous fiscal year.
While presenting the budget, Choudhary underscored that the financial proposals were crafted following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guiding principle of "Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas" (Development for All, Together with All), alongside Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's vision of "Nyay Ke Saath Vikas" (Development with Justice).
This marks the last budget presented by the current Bihar government before voters head to the polls later in the year, making it particularly significant from both economic and political perspectives.
The substantial hike in the budget allocation underlines the government's emphasis on broad-based growth and equitable development as it approaches the electoral contest.
