Panchkula, March 3: A biker was detained by the Panchkula police on Monday after approaching the stationary convoy of Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, officials reported.
Chief Minister Saini was in Panchkula for a pre-budget meeting scheduled later in the day with BJP legislators and state officials, ahead of Haryana's 2025-2026 budget session slated for next week.
According to authorities, the incident occurred outside a government hotel where the Chief Minister was preparing to attend the high-level meeting.
Describing the situation, a police officer stated, "The man approached on his motorcycle and ignored signals by security personnel instructing him to stop. When intercepted, he entered into an argument with officers, prompting us to detain him for further questioning."
The biker, identified as a resident of Hisar who currently resides in Pinjore, initially claimed innocence. "He explained he had merely come to the hotel for tea and was unaware of the Chief Minister's presence. He alleged police were stopping him without reason," the officer added. The police are presently verifying the individual's claims.
Security measures around the Chief Minister remain tightened in the wake of the incident.
