Bill seeking to set up co-operative university introduced in Lok Sabha

New Delhi, Feb 3 (PTI) – In a bid to enhance the availability of qualified manpower in cooperative societies, the government on Monday introduced the Tribhuvan Sahkari University Bill in the Lok Sabha.

Minister of State for Cooperation Krishan Pal presented the Bill, emphasizing that the current education and training infrastructure in the cooperative sector is fragmented and insufficient to meet the growing demand for skilled personnel. The Bill underscores the need for a comprehensive, integrated, and standardized structure for education, training, and research in the sector.

The proposed national university aims to ensure a steady supply of professionally trained individuals for managerial, supervisory, administrative, technical, and operational roles within cooperative societies. Additionally, it seeks to address the long-standing issue of capacity building for both employees and board members across India.

By establishing a dedicated academic and training institution, the government intends to provide structured and high-quality education that will strengthen the cooperative movement, a key pillar of India’s economic framework.

The introduction of this Bill marks a significant step toward professionalizing and streamlining human resource development within the cooperative sector.
