New Delhi, Feb 3 (PTI): The Congress party on Monday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of executing the ideological agenda of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Odisha through Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.

Congress MP Saptagiri Ulaka alleged that since the BJP formed the government in Odisha, incidents of rape and other crimes have surged, posing a threat to the interests of the tribal community. He further claimed that Majhi, a tribal leader himself, recently made an offensive remark about tribal women, for which he must issue an apology.

"The BJP has appointed a tribal as chief minister, but the real agenda being implemented is that of the RSS. His recent statement regarding tribal women is disgraceful," Ulaka asserted.

Supporting these allegations, Congress’s Odisha in-charge Ajay Kumar criticized Majhi for making "objectionable" remarks about women from his own community. Kumar further accused Majhi of being influenced by RSS ideology, stating, "Only someone trained in an RSS-run institution could make such comments, and the Odisha CM is a graduate of such a university."

He also alleged that in the past few months, Odisha has witnessed several crimes against tribals and Christians, highlighting concerns over the state’s law and order situation under the BJP regime.

The Congress has demanded a public apology from Chief Minister Majhi over his purported remarks, intensifying the political battle in the state.
