Leaders Praise Strong Leadership and Military Action Following Pahalgam Attack Retaliation
New Delhi, May 10 – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian Armed Forces following the announcement of a ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan. The party credited the ceasefire to the Prime Minister’s decisive leadership and the military’s bravery in dealing with cross-border terrorism.Amit Malviya, head of the BJP's IT department, expressed his gratitude on social media, stating, “A heartfelt thank you to Prime Minister Modi and the brave Indian Armed Forces for their unwavering resolve and courage.” He emphasized that India has shown “unmatched strength and clarity of purpose” at a time when Pakistan’s military and its terror-linked deep state exert overwhelming control over the country's population and narrative.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav echoed similar sentiments. Praising Modi’s firm response to the Pahalgam terror attack, Yadav remarked that every Indian feels proud and called the ceasefire a victory for India. “It is the win of India,” he declared, adding that the Prime Minister’s swift action brought the enemies “to their knees” by punishing terrorists and their backers in record time.
Malviya also noted the inherent risks involved in confronting a nuclear-armed nation, yet applauded the armed forces for striking at the core of Pakistan’s terror network. “India stands proud today—because of your resolute leadership. Jai Hind!” he posted on X.
The ruling alliance partner Janata Dal (United) also welcomed the ceasefire agreement. JD(U) spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan Prasad asserted that Pakistan has been taught an unforgettable lesson by India.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri formally announced the ceasefire on Saturday evening, stating that the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan had agreed to halt all military activity—on land, sea, and air—starting 5 pm the same day. This declaration followed a phone call between the two DGMOs at 3:35 pm.
The announcement came soon after US President Donald Trump confirmed that India and Pakistan had reached a “full and immediate” ceasefire following American-brokered talks.
The agreement is being seen as a significant diplomatic and military development in the wake of heightened tensions between the two countries following the recent Pahalgam attack and India's Operation Sindoor.
