Ranchi, Feb 27: The opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday raised concerns over the violent clashes that erupted in Hazaribagh’s Ichak during Maha Shivratri celebrations. The party demanded a fair and transparent probe into the incident, which saw multiple injuries following disputes over religious flags and a loudspeaker installation.
As the Jharkhand assembly session commenced, BJP legislators created an uproar, insisting on a thorough investigation and urging the state government to ensure peace in the affected region. Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato assured them of an opportunity to voice their concerns while urging order during the session.
BJP MLA Amit Yadav from Barkatha highlighted the scale of destruction, mentioning that several motorcycles and auto-rickshaws were set ablaze during the altercation. He called for immediate government intervention to restore calm and criticized Minister Irfan Ansari for allegedly blaming BJP workers for the violence, demanding an apology from him.
Meanwhile, BJP MLA Pradeep Prasad from Hazaribagh pressed for a probe by a committee of the Jharkhand assembly. Following assurances from the Speaker, BJP members eventually allowed the Question Hour to proceed.
The situation in Ichak remains tense, with political leaders emphasizing the need for a fair investigation to bring those responsible to justice.
