BJP Slams Governor's Address in Karnataka Assembly, Calls It "Pure Lie"

Bengaluru, March 3, 2025 – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly criticized the address delivered by Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot in the state assembly on Monday, calling it a "pure lie" and accusing the government of misleading the public.

BJP State President B.Y. Vijayendra voiced his dissatisfaction with the speech, alleging that while the Governor's address claimed that the state was on the path to rapid development, the reality was quite different. "If you listen to the Governor’s address, you will know that this government has wasted the Governor’s time. The address starts by saying the state government has succeeded in ensuring speedy development, but the truth is far from it," Vijayendra remarked during a press interaction.

Vijayendra argued that the speech lacked substance on actual development, stating that the government had failed to make significant progress. "In terms of development, the nuts and bolts of the government have become loose, which is clearly reflected in the Governor’s speech," he added.

The BJP leader also criticized the government's unfulfilled promises, particularly in the animal husbandry sector. He pointed out that while the government had announced incentives for the sector, it had not yet disbursed the thousands of crores owed to dairy farmers.

Vijayendra also took issue with the government’s claim of allocating Rs 90,000 crore to address regional imbalances. He questioned how much of this amount had actually been spent, suggesting a lack of transparency.

Echoing Vijayendra’s sentiments, Leader of Opposition R. Ashoka further criticized the state government, branding it as a "zero government" due to its alleged failure to deliver any substantial development.

The Governor’s address, typically a platform for outlining government achievements, has now become a contentious topic in the political discourse of Karnataka, with the BJP calling for greater accountability from the ruling government.
