Strategic Security Measures Return After Initial Withdrawal Amid Tense Border Situation

Jaipur, May 10 – Blackout measures were reinstated in Rajasthan's Jodhpur and Jaisalmer districts on Saturday night following Pakistan's violation of the ceasefire agreement that had been reached earlier in the day between the two nations.

The blackout, which had been lifted briefly after the announcement of an immediate cessation of hostilities, was swiftly reimposed as a precautionary measure. Government sources confirmed that despite the bilateral understanding to halt all military action on land, air, and sea, Pakistan breached the agreement on Saturday night.

In response, authorities reactivated blackout protocols, along with continued enforcement of other restrictions such as a ban on flying drones and the use of fireworks.

Jodhpur District Collector Gaurav Goyal announced that the blackout in the city, which holds strategic importance despite not sharing a border with Pakistan, would be in effect from 12 am to 4 am. Meanwhile, in Jaisalmer, the blackout originally scheduled for 11 pm was enacted immediately following the ceasefire breach reported in Jammu and Kashmir.

Earlier in the day, following the ceasefire declaration, markets had reopened and normal activities had resumed. However, the evening developments prompted a rapid return to emergency preparedness in these key western Rajasthan districts.

The renewed restrictions highlight ongoing security concerns amid fluctuating tensions along the India-Pakistan border.
