
CRPF Honors Martyrs of Pulwama Attack
CRPF marked the seventh anniversary of the 2019 Pulwama attack with tributes at Lethpora and a blood donation drive in Srinagar.
Feb 14, Srinagar: The Central Reserve Police Force on Friday commemorated the seventh anniversary of the Pulwama attack, in which 40 personnel were killed, with a memorial ceremony at Lethpora in Jammu and Kashmir.
The ceremony was held at the Martyrs Memorial at the 185 Battalion headquarters in Lethpora and attended by Director General Gyanendra Pratap Singh, Additional Director General for the J&K Zone Rajesh Kumar, Inspector General (Kashmir Operations Sector) Vineet Brij Lal and Inspector General, Srinagar Sector, Pawan Kumar Sharma.
Officers from the Army, Border Security Force, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, Sashastra Seema Bal, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the local administration were also present.
Senior officers and personnel laid wreaths at the memorial, followed by a ceremonial salute and the sounding of the bugle. A minute of silence was observed in memory of the personnel who were killed in the suicide bombing in Pulwama district on Feb. 14, 2019.
The attack, one of the deadliest against Indian security forces in the region, targeted a CRPF convoy and claimed the lives of 40 personnel.
As part of the observance, the force organized a blood donation camp, continuing an annual tribute to the fallen. More than 100 units of blood were donated and handed over to SMHS Hospital in Srinagar, officials said.
