Mumbai, Feb 4 (PTI): The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), India’s wealthiest civic body, on Tuesday presented its budget for the financial year 2025-26, pegged at ₹74,427.41 crore—a 14.19% increase from the previous year’s allocation of ₹65,180.79 crore.

The budget was presented by Additional Municipal Commissioners to BMC Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani, who currently serves as the state-appointed administrator of the civic body. The BMC has been operating under an administrator since the tenure of the corporators ended on March 7, 2022.

This marks the third consecutive year that the budget has been submitted directly to the administrator instead of the traditional practice where the Municipal Commissioner presents it before the standing committee.

With an increased financial outlay, the budget signals the civic body's focus on infrastructure development, public services, and urban governance in Mumbai.
