New Delhi, May 10 — Amid escalating military tensions with Pakistan, the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), a prominent national trade union affiliated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), has directed all its affiliated unions to halt strikes, agitations, and protests, urging full support for the Indian government and armed forces.

In a strongly worded statement issued on Saturday, the BMS called for “unequivocal” backing of national interest, encouraging government employees to cancel non-essential leaves and resume duties immediately. The move comes in light of India's ongoing military action following the recent Pahalgam terror attack.

BMS Calls for Suspension of Trade Union Activities

"Postpone all forms of strikes, agitations, demonstrations, and other trade union activities. If necessary, work overtime and increase productivity without taking any overtime charges," the BMS said.

To contribute actively to civil defense and national readiness, it appealed to workers across key sectors — including defence, space, railways, civil aviation, road transport, telecommunications, healthcare, power, and scientific research.

The organisation has also urged all affiliates to assist in local initiatives such as blood donation camps, civil defence operations, and coordination with district authorities for essential services.

National Executive Endorses Government’s Actions

The directives were issued following a virtual meeting of the BMS’ Kendriya Karya Samiti (national executive body) on Friday. Chaired by BMS President Hiranmay Pandya, the meeting passed a resolution lauding India’s armed forces for their successful execution of Operation Sindoor, a military response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam.

“The bravery exhibited by both male and female soldiers is commendable,” the resolution stated. It also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his “decisive leadership” and praised Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah for their strategic roles in national defence and internal security.

Revival of Rashtriya Mazdoor Morcha on the Cards

BMS General Secretary Ravindra Himte announced plans to revive the Rashtriya Mazdoor Morcha, a coalition of nationalist trade unions originally formed during the wars of 1962, 1965, and 1971.

"This is the moment to convert patriotic feelings into concrete actions," Himte said. The resolution also condemned what it termed as Pakistan’s “dilly-dallying tactics” and warned that Islamabad was intentionally creating a war-like atmosphere.

Solidarity Programmes Across India

To boost morale and show support, BMS has instructed its federations to organise solidarity events in support of the armed forces at both district and industrial levels. It also encouraged coordination with like-minded trade unions to strengthen national unity during this critical time.

In a resounding message, the BMS reaffirmed its commitment to the nation, declaring that it would stand “firmly with the government of India and the armed forces” in all measures undertaken to counter Pakistan’s aggression.
