The Chief Executive Officer of Jammu Smart City Limited, Devansh Yadav, chaired a high-level meeting to expedite the introduction of boating and water sports activities at the Tawi Riverfront, with the aim of transforming the area into a vibrant urban recreation hub.
The meeting reviewed key aspects related to safety protocols, feasibility, operational mechanisms, and inter-departmental coordination to ensure a smooth and secure implementation of the proposed activities. Representatives from the concerned departments participated in the discussions, focusing on making the initiative safe, sustainable, and visitor-friendly.
It is worth noting that the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), under the Jammu Smart City Mission, recently organized the first-ever Tawi Boating Festival at the Tawi Riverfront. The two-day event attracted around 4,000 to 5,000 visitors, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing riverfront rejuvenation project and generating widespread public enthusiasm.
During the festival, JMC Commissioner Devansh Yadav had assured that regular boating services would be introduced soon, taking into account public response and safety considerations. The recent review meeting is seen as a step towards fulfilling that commitment.
Officials stated that the introduction of boating and water sports will not only enhance recreational opportunities for residents and tourists but also add a new dimension to Jammu's urban landscape. Once operational, the Tawi Riverfront is expected to emerge as a major attraction, contributing to tourism, leisure activities, and the overall livability of the city under the Smart City Mission.
