Bollywood Actor Praises Co-star Vijay Amidst Speculation About Actor's Political Entry

Bollywood actor Bobby Deol praised South cinema superstar Thalapathy Vijay, calling him a "simple and down-to-earth person." Deol, who is currently working alongside Vijay in the upcoming Tamil film Jana Nayagan, directed by H Vinoth, shared his admiration for the Tamil actor during the green carpet event of the IIFA Awards 2025 in Jaipur.

Speculation is rife that Jana Nayagan might mark Thalapathy Vijay's last cinematic appearance before he fully transitions into politics.

Speaking at the IIFA ceremony, Deol remarked warmly, "Thalapathy Vijay is a sweetheart. Very simple, down to earth."

Bobby Deol on Acting Across Film Industries

Bobby Deol, known for recent performances in pan-Indian projects such as Animal, Tamil film Kanguva, and Telugu movie Daaku Maharaaj, believes the filmmaking process remains fundamentally the same despite language differences.

"When you work in a different industry, only the language changes. The style of working is the same," Deol noted. He further expressed his passion for challenging roles, saying, "I like doing characters that are out of my comfort zone, challenging."

Bobby Deol Expresses Gratitude for Fans' Support

Reflecting on his journey, Bobby Deol, son of veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra and brother to actor Sunny Deol, expressed his gratitude toward fans who have supported him since his debut film Barsaat in 1995.

"God has been very kind. Fans have stood by me for the last 30 years. I think we get so much love because of Papa. I'm blessed. Whenever I win an award, it's for my fans," Deol said.

OTT Platforms Like IPL for Actors, Says Bobby Deol

The actor also commended the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards 2025 for recognizing talent from OTT platforms. Deol himself significantly benefited from digital streaming platforms, marking his digital debut with Netflix’s Class of 83 in 2020, followed by his critically acclaimed web series Aashram on MX Player.

"OTT is like the IPL. All new young cricketers come and eventually play for Team India," he metaphorically explained, highlighting how streaming services provide emerging talent exposure leading to greater recognition.

Possibility of Deol Family Performance at IIFA

When questioned about the possibility of a joint performance featuring his father Dharmendra and brother Sunny Deol at the awards ceremony, Bobby Deol expressed cautious optimism. "I hope so. (But) Papa has become weak," he candidly responded, indicating Dharmendra’s current health status might limit their collective on-stage appearance.
