Body of Missing Youth Found in Drain in Outer Delhi; Police Suspect Murder.webp

New Delhi, May 11 — The body of a 22-year-old man, who had been missing since May 5, was recovered from a drain in the Bakkarwala area of outer Delhi, police confirmed on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Rahul, a local resident. His family had filed a missing person report at the Ranhola Police Station on May 7 after he failed to return home.

According to officials, police were alerted on the morning of May 9 by a call reporting a foul smell emanating from a drain near a temple. Upon reaching the location, a police team discovered Rahul’s body.

“A piece of cloth was found gagging Rahul’s mouth. A broken silver chain and a belt were also found near the body,” said a senior police officer. The body was subsequently sent to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital for postmortem examination.

Initial investigation suggests that Rahul may have been murdered elsewhere and his body later dumped in the drain.

Police have arrested one individual in connection with the case, although the identity of the suspect has not yet been disclosed.

A detailed investigation is currently underway.
