Budget Deadlock Continues: Lok Sabha Session Highlights.webp

New Delhi, February 11 The Lok Sabha held the Question Hour on Wednesday amidst vociferous protests and slogans from opposition members over various issues.

A total of 13 questions and their supplementary questions were discussed during the Question Hour.

Opposition members shouted slogans while attempting to raise certain questions, but PC Mohan, who was presiding over the session, did not allow them.

Some opposition members were heard shouting "we want justice".

After the protests, opposition members walked out of the House around 11:30 am.

The resumption of discussions on the Union Budget on Tuesday marked the end of the deadlock between the government and the opposition.

While responding to a supplementary question related to renewable energy on Wednesday, New and Renewable Energy Minister Pralhad Joshi stated that India is leading the way in green energy.

He noted that India has both policy stability and political stability, which makes entities want to invest in the country.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, while responding to a supplementary question from TMC member Kirti Azad, criticized the West Bengal government and questioned why the state government was slow in acquiring land for railway projects.

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) is in power in West Bengal, which is scheduled to hold elections this year.

Speaker Om Birla has decided not to attend the House until the process for the no-confidence motion notice brought against him by the opposition is settled.

Since February 2, the Lok Sabha witnessed unruly scenes and repeated disruptions, leading to the suspension of seven members of the Congress and one from the CPI(M) for the rest of the Budget session.

Anticipating unpleasant scenes, Birla requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi not to attend the House last week when he was to respond to the Motion of Thanks on the President's address.

Birla's claim that Congress members could create unpleasant scenes had further aggravated the stalemate between the government and the opposition.

Due to the disruptions, the Prime Minister was unable to respond to the Motion of Thanks on the President's address, which was delivered to both Houses on January 28.

The motion was passed by voice vote amid slogans from the opposition.
