Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, stated that the government will move a privilege motion against Rahul Gandhi for misleading the House by making baseless statements in the Lok Sabha during the Budget discussion. Speaking to the media, Kiren Rijiju said that Rahul Gandhi has also made false and baseless allegations against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Mr. Rijiju pointed out that Rahul Gandhi made a serious allegation without any prior notice. He further stated that there are clear rules and procedures for conducting business in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, which can be used to substantiate these allegations. Mr. Rijiju also requested Rahul Gandhi to clarify his statements in the House. The Minister also criticized Rahul Gandhi for making allegations against Minister Hardeep Singh Puri without any prior notice. He added that this is a serious breach of privilege and the government will move the necessary notice to the Speaker. He alleged that the leader of the opposition did not make any substantive contribution to the Budget Discussion. In response to Rahul Gandhi's allegations regarding the India-US trade deal, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal assured that all decisions were taken with the welfare of farmers in mind and their interests are secured.
