Gurugram, Feb 2 (PTI) – A horrific hit-and-run incident unfolded at the Ghamroj toll plaza on the Sohna-Gurugram highway, where a Haryana Roadways bus ran over a tollbooth worker, leaving him critically injured.
According to police officials, the incident took place on Saturday evening when the toll worker, identified as Dilip Singh (34), a resident of Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, sustained serious leg injuries after being hit by the speeding bus. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital for urgent medical treatment.
Bus Driver Flees After Collision, Incident Caught on CCTV
Eyewitnesses and CCTV footage from the toll plaza reveal that the accident occurred as a car passed through the toll gate, followed closely by the Haryana Roadways bus. In an apparent attempt to evade toll payment, the bus driver accelerated suddenly and struck Singh, who was stationed at lane 3.Instead of stopping, the driver sped away from the scene, leaving the injured worker behind. The entire incident was captured on security cameras, aiding the police in identifying the vehicle and its driver.
FIR Registered, Investigation Underway
Following the incident, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered at Bhondsi police station against the absconding driver. A senior police officer confirmed that an investigation is actively underway to track down the accused.This shocking event has once again raised concerns about road safety and reckless driving on national highways. Authorities are now under pressure to implement stricter monitoring and enforcement at toll plazas to prevent such incidents in the future.
