New Delhi, May 12—In a significant step toward secure and self-reliant digital infrastructure, the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) has partnered with Synergy Quantum India to jointly develop quantum communication technologies tailored for drone-based deployment.
C-DOT, the premier telecom R&D body under the Department of Telecommunications, formalized the collaboration on Monday. The partnership aligns with India’s national agenda of fostering indigenous innovation under the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative and aims to strengthen the country’s foothold in cutting-edge and secure telecom technologies.
A Vision for Quantum-Enabled Secure Communication
According to the official release, the collaboration will focus on the development of quantum communication systems designed for drones. This move could revolutionize secure data transmission across critical domains, including defence, emergency services, and secure government communications.Jay Oberoi, Founder and CEO of Synergy Quantum India, emphasized the broader impact of the initiative. “This partnership is expected to lay the foundation for next-generation quantum-safe telecom infrastructure,” he said. “It has the potential to position India as a global leader in drone-based quantum secure communications.”
Driving Innovation Through Public-Private Synergy
Rajkumar Upadhyay, CEO of C-DOT, underlined the importance of public-private collaboration in achieving strategic technological goals. “The convergence of public R&D and private innovation is essential to shaping a secure and self-reliant digital future for India,” he said. “Quantum technologies hold immense promise for next-generation secure communications, and this collaboration with Synergy Quantum reflects our shared vision of accelerating indigenous capabilities in this critical domain.”Broader Scope: Research, Grants, and Knowledge Dissemination
The partnership also includes joint research proposal development for national and international grant applications and dissemination of results through academic publications, white papers, and other knowledge-sharing platforms. Why Quantum Matters
Quantum computing represents a paradigm shift in information processing, promising superior performance over conventional computing systems. Its potential to solve highly complex problems rapidly makes it a cornerstone technology for future secure communications. The C-DOT and Synergy Quantum India alliance marks a pivotal step in developing quantum-resilient telecom systems, particularly in mobile and mission-critical applications using drones. It will set the stage for India’s emergence as a leader in secure quantum communications.
