Car thieves gag busted with arrest of mastermind in Shahdara

New Delhi, Feb 3 (PTI) – The Delhi Police have dismantled an interstate gang specializing in luxury car theft, arresting its 40-year-old mastermind, Manoj Pal, from Uttar Pradesh. The operation also led to the recovery of five stolen vehicles, a senior officer confirmed on Monday.

The investigation was launched after a Maruti Eeco was reported stolen from Farsh Bazar on December 28. CCTV footage helped identify the culprits, setting the police on their trail. Acting on a tip-off, authorities apprehended Pal near CBD Ground in Shahdara on January 29.

During questioning, Pal admitted to stealing luxury cars with his accomplices—Raju, Kala, and Amruddin—who remain at large. He confessed to stealing over 50 high-end vehicles across Delhi-NCR and selling them in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra.

The gang employed advanced key configuration devices to generate electronic keys, allowing them to start and drive away vehicles effortlessly. Once stolen, the accomplices altered engine and chassis numbers before selling the cars using forged documents, the police revealed.

Efforts are underway to track down the remaining members of the gang.
