Ceasefire Violations Trigger Fresh Panic in Rajasthan Border Areas

Panic grips residents near border areas of Rajasthan following ceasefire violations by Pakistan.webp

Drone Activity Reported Again in Jaisalmer, Barmer Despite Ceasefire Agreement

Jaipur, May 11 – Tensions continued to simmer in Rajasthan’s border districts as drone activity and explosions were reported on Saturday night, despite the ceasefire agreement announced between India and Pakistan earlier in the day.

Following reports of aerial intrusions, a blackout was reimposed in several border areas, including Jaisalmer, Barmer, Anupgarh, and Ganganagar. Although local residents noted a dip in the intensity of drone activity compared to the previous two nights, the fear and uncertainty remained palpable.

Residents Report Drone Sightings, Explosions

"Drone activity was spotted in the sky, which was a clear violation of the ceasefire announced on Saturday," said Revant Singh, a resident of Jaisalmer.

The region had already faced drone attacks on Thursday and Friday nights, with Indian defence forces intercepting and neutralizing the aerial threats mid-air. Thankfully, no casualties or property damage were reported from those incidents.

Markets Reopen Briefly Before Renewed Alerts

In a brief window of relief after the ceasefire announcement, markets in Jaisalmer and Barmer reopened on Saturday evening. The blackout advisory in Barmer was lifted, and the duration was reduced in Jaisalmer and Jodhpur.

However, by around 9 PM, fresh sightings of drones prompted authorities to enforce another round of blackouts across the region.

"There was news about the ceasefire in the evening and markets reopened. But around 9 PM, drones were spotted in the sky again. We heard explosions, although the activity was less intense than the previous night," shared Tarendra Singh, a resident of Jhinjhinyali village in Fatehgarh.

Despite the renewed alerts, local shops remained open and daily activities gradually resumed on Sunday.

Debris Found in Multiple Locations

Drone debris and missile-like fragments were recovered from several areas. In Barmer, wreckage was found in Burtiya village. Similar drone activity was also reported from Anupgarh and Ganganagar, escalating concerns among the local population.

Ongoing Vigilance in Border Areas

Security forces remain on high alert across Rajasthan’s border belt as the situation unfolds. While the ceasefire has provided a momentary reprieve, recurring violations have cast a shadow of uncertainty over the region’s fragile calm.

Local authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and advise residents to follow safety directives amid the ongoing military tensions.
