New Delhi, Feb 3 (PTI) – Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Arvind Sawant on Monday took a sharp dig at the central government, claiming that its schemes are failing to deliver tangible results. During the debate on the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address in the Lok Sabha, Sawant pointed out a persistent gap between the government's promises and actual implementation.

Referring to key initiatives like the PM Awas Yojana and the Jal Jeevan Mission, Sawant questioned their effectiveness, saying, "Pakka ghar, har ghar jal... kahan hai, kab hoga?" (Where are the pucca houses and water connections for all? When will it happen?). He alleged that the government's words do not align with ground reality.

Concerns Over Kumbh Mela Stampede

Sawant also expressed concern over the recent Kumbh Mela stampede, which resulted in at least 30 deaths and 60 injuries. He criticized the handling of the event, highlighting lapses in crowd management.

Allegations Against BJP on Industrial Investments

Further attacking the ruling BJP, Sawant accused the party of shifting industrial investments from Maharashtra to Gujarat for political gains. He alleged that the government prioritizes politics over development, impacting Maharashtra's economic growth.

Opposition Joins Criticism, BJP Defends Policies

Supporting the criticism, NCP (SP) leader Amol Kolhe also raised concerns about the Maha Kumbh stampede in his speech. Meanwhile, JD(U) MP D Kamait and BJP leader Faggan Singh Kulaste defended government policies, arguing that schemes are benefiting people across the country.

The debate saw heated exchanges as opposition leaders questioned the credibility of government initiatives, while ruling party members stood firm in their defense.
