Flight Services Resume After Four-Day Suspension Due to Cross-Border Tensions
Chandigarh, May 12, 2025 — Flight operations at the Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport in Chandigarh resumed on Monday morning following the suspension of hostilities between India and Pakistan. The Chandigarh International Airport Limited (CHIAL) confirmed that civil flight operations were restored from 10:30 AM on May 12. This development follows an agreement between New Delhi and Islamabad on Saturday to immediately halt military actions after four consecutive days of intense drone and missile strikes across the border.
In an official statement on X (formerly Twitter), CHIAL announced, "Flight operations resumed. Flight services to and from Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport, Chandigarh, have resumed at 10:30 am on May 12, 2025. Passengers are advised to check with their respective airlines for updated schedules."
Supporting the announcement, the Mohali Deputy Commissioner also posted on X, stating, "Chandigarh Airport @ixcairport is now open for normal civil flight operations with immediate effect as per information conveyed by CEO CHIAL."
The restoration of flight services is a significant relief to passengers after the temporary closure caused widespread travel disruptions. Meanwhile, Director General of Military Operations (DGMO)-level talks between India and Pakistan are expected on Monday to solidify the ceasefire and prevent further escalation.
The reopening marks a return to normalcy in air travel in the region. Authorities are urging travelers to stay updated through official airline communications.
