Raipur, February 27 – The Chhattisgarh government has declared the recently released Hindi film Chhava tax-free in the state. The movie, featuring Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, was given this status to promote awareness of India's rich historical legacy, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai announced on Wednesday night.

With this move, Chhattisgarh becomes the third BJP-ruled state to exempt Chhava from entertainment tax, following Madhya Pradesh and Goa. The film, directed by Laxman Utekar, hit theaters on February 14 and has since garnered significant box office success, earning ₹417.2 crore worldwide.

CM Sai emphasized that Chhava is more than just a cinematic experience—it is a tribute to India's historical traditions, bravery, and self-respect. "Every citizen should watch this film to understand the legacy of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj," he said, adding that the decision aims to instill patriotism and valor among the youth of Chhattisgarh.

The film vividly portrays the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, highlighting his fearless battles against the Mughals and other invaders. Through its powerful narrative, Chhava showcases his unwavering spirit and strategic brilliance, reinforcing a deep sense of nationalism.

The film’s tax exemption in Chhattisgarh is expected to encourage more audiences to experience this historical epic while making it more accessible to the public.
