Chhattisgarh: Naxalites Kill 65-Year-Old Man in Sukma District

Sukma, Chhattisgarh – March 4, 2025: A 65-year-old man identified as Kalmu Hidma was killed by Naxalites on Monday evening in Pentapad village under Chintagufa police station limits in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district, according to local police.

Police officials confirmed the incident on Tuesday but did not provide details regarding the motive or circumstances of the killing. The deceased, Kalmu Hidma, was reportedly a relative of former Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Manish Kunjam.

Following the attack, authorities dispatched a police team to the scene to conduct an investigation and gather additional evidence and testimonies from locals.

This recent killing raises concerns as it marks the eighth fatality linked to Naxalite violence this year within the Bastar division. The Bastar division comprises seven districts, including Sukma, and has witnessed frequent Naxalite incidents in the past several months.

Highlighting the region's troubled situation, police reports indicate that 68 civilians lost their lives due to Naxal violence across various incidents in the Bastar region in the previous year alone.

Security forces remain on high alert as the investigation continues.
