New Delhi, Feb 2 (PTI) – Union Minister Chirag Paswan on Sunday expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would emerge victorious in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, citing increasing dissatisfaction among voters towards the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Addressing an election rally in Mangolpuri in support of BJP candidate Raj Kumar Chauhan, Paswan emphasized the growing public enthusiasm for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). "Wherever I go, I see people's enthusiasm for the NDA and the BJP, and growing resentment towards AAP," said the Hajipur MP, whose party, the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), is a key NDA ally.

Confident of the BJP’s prospects, Paswan asserted that the election results on February 8 would pave the way for a BJP-led government in the national capital. "This clearly indicates that, when the results are announced, the BJP will form the government in Delhi," he stated.

The high-stakes elections for the 70-member Delhi Assembly are set to take place on February 5, with votes scheduled to be counted on February 8.

Responding to questions about the BJP’s decision not to announce a chief ministerial candidate, Paswan pointed to the party's precedent of electing its leader post-victory. "There have been several instances when the BJP chose the chief minister after winning the elections, based on the decisions of its elected MLAs," he explained.

Highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's role in shaping voter sentiment, Paswan remarked that the people of Delhi strongly trusted his welfare and development policies. "I believe that, due to the prime minister's efforts, the BJP will win in Delhi," he added.

With the election campaign intensifying, the BJP is banking on anti-incumbency sentiment against AAP and the central leadership’s appeal to sway voters in its favor.
