Hazaribag, Jharkhand, Feb 26: Several individuals sustained injuries following a violent clash between two groups over the installation of religious flags and a loudspeaker during Maha Shivratri celebrations in Dumraon village, under Ichak police station limits on Wednesday.
According to the police, the confrontation began when one group objected to the placement of religious flags and a loudspeaker near a school by members of another group. The dispute quickly escalated into stone-pelting, resulting in injuries and property damage. In the ensuing violence, multiple two-wheelers were set ablaze.
Authorities swiftly responded, deploying senior police officers and additional security personnel. The police used force to disperse the crowd and bring the situation under control. "Law and order are under control. We appeal to people to celebrate Maha Shivratri peacefully," a police official stated.
Meanwhile, Minister of State for Defence and Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth attributed the violence to alleged Bangladeshi infiltrators, calling for stringent action against them. He urged Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren to take decisive steps to identify and remove such individuals from the state.
Seth also pointed out that similar incidents often occur during religious festivals in Jharkhand, contrasting the situation with BJP-NDA-ruled states such as Delhi, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh, where he claimed infiltrators are effectively dealt with.
Currently, the situation remains tense but under control, with security forces keeping a close watch to prevent further unrest.
