
February 13, Kohima: Tension flared today in the Medziphema sub-division of the Chümoukedima district following reported violent clashes involving the Chakroma Public Organization and residents of the Moava village.
According to a press note from the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), Dimapur, the situation is now under control. It added that security forces have been deployed in the area and normal traffic has been restored.
Police have advised the public to maintain peace and refrain from taking the law into their own hands. Further details on the incident are awaited.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister and Minister in charge of Home, Yanthungo Patton, has expressed deep concerns over the incidents of violence and arson.
Speaking on X, he said that any act that disrupts peace and endangers lives and property is a matter of serious concern.
Mr. Patton urged all those involved to remain calm, exercise restraint, and allow lawful and constructive processes to address any grievances.
