Class 10 student ends life in Thane; cops launch probe

Thane, February 3 (PTI) – A tragic incident unfolded in Maharashtra’s Thane district, where a Class 10 student from an ashram school was found hanging from a tree near the institution. Police confirmed the incident on Monday, stating that the cause behind the extreme step remains unknown.

The harrowing discovery was made on Saturday in the Murbad area, when some passers-by noticed the student hanging and immediately alerted the authorities.

According to officials, the deceased hailed from Khairepada in Jawhar taluka, located in the neighboring Palghar district. He was a student at an aided tribal ashram school (a residential school) in Thane.

Upon receiving the report, the Tokawde police reached the scene and sent the body for postmortem. "A case of accidental death has been registered, and further investigations are underway," said Inspector Dinkar Chakor.

Authorities are currently probing the circumstances surrounding the incident to determine the possible reasons behind the student’s tragic death.
