Promotes low-investment tourism model as a key to job creation and district-level development

Amaravati, March 27 — Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has called on district collectors to prioritise tourism development, highlighting it as a high-impact sector that requires minimal investment while offering vast potential for employment and economic growth.

Speaking on the second day of the district collectors’ conference at the state Secretariat on Wednesday, Naidu stressed that tourism could be a transformative driver of local economies across the state.
“Tourism with minimal investment could be a significant source of employment, and by tapping into local specialties, it can become a major avenue for job creation and economic growth,” said the Chief Minister.

Harnessing Local Attractions Across Regions

Naidu pointed out the untapped tourism opportunities stretching from Rayalaseema to North Andhra, urging collectors to leverage the unique cultural and natural assets of their districts. He underscored the importance of building infrastructure to support tourism, including the establishment of at least three hotels in every district headquarters.

He also encouraged innovation and competition among collectors, stating:
“Every collector should compete with each other and execute their work with creative thinking.”

Vision for Inclusive and Rapid Growth

Naidu urged officials to adopt modern technologies and facilitate investments to accelerate district-level development. He also laid out a bold vision for the state, targeting a per capita income of USD 42,000, achievable through sustained growth of over 15% annually.

This ambitious goal, Naidu noted, will require each district to contribute proactively by identifying and utilising its unique resources.

Strategic Direction and Stakeholder Engagement

In his review of presentations from all 26 district collectors, Naidu offered strategic insights and emphasised the need for regular district tours and stakeholder engagement. He called for measurable improvements in governance and progress by the next collectors’ conference.

The Chief Minister concluded by reaffirming his commitment to making Andhra Pradesh a leading economic powerhouse, fuelled by innovation, tourism, and district-level leadership.
