CM Pema Khandu Leads Tiranga Yatra in Walong to Honour Armed Forces’ Operation Sindoor Triumph

Patriotic fervour marks the start of nationwide outreach; homage paid at Walong War Memorial​

Itanagar, May 13 – Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Tuesday led a spirited Tiranga Yatra in Walong, a remote town in Anjaw district, celebrating the recent success of the Indian Armed Forces in Operation Sindoor. The event marked the beginning of an 11-day-long nationwide campaign by the BJP to highlight the Modi government’s leadership and the valour of Indian forces.

Joined by his cabinet colleagues, local leaders, Army personnel, and enthusiastic citizens, Khandu hailed the bravery and sacrifice of the soldiers involved in the mission. The yatra reflected strong national pride and collective support for the forces defending India's frontiers.

"Ahead of the historic Cabinet Aapke Dwar, I led the Tiranga Yatra at Walong with my cabinet colleagues, local leaders, Army personnel, and the spirited local public. The patriotic fervour at this easternmost frontier rekindled our love for the nation and strengthened our collective resolve to stand in unwavering support of our brave defence forces," Khandu posted on X.

Yatra concludes at the War Memorial​

The Tiranga Yatra commenced in Walong and culminated at the Walong War Memorial, where Khandu paid tribute to the martyrs of the 1962 India-China war. The solemn moment served as a reminder of the sacrifices made by Indian soldiers to protect national sovereignty.

"We paid homage to the valiant jawans who made the supreme sacrifice while defending our motherland during the 1962 war. May their courage continue to inspire generations," the chief minister stated in another social media post.

Cabinet Aapke Dwar set to bring governance to the grassroots​

Khandu and his ministers arrived in Walong on Monday ahead of the Cabinet Aapke Dwar programme scheduled to take place in Kibithoo, India's easternmost village. The initiative aims to bridge the governance gap by bringing ministers, senior officers, and departmental heads directly to the people.

As part of the programme, several crucial policy decisions and development announcements specifically catering to the needs of Anjaw district were made, ensuring that the benefits of governance and development reach the remotest corners of the state.

The day not only honoured the heroes of the past and present but also reinforced the commitment to inclusive governance at the grassroots.
