Tiruchirappalli, Feb 3 (PTI) – Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has announced the establishment of a new headquarters for the Tamil Nadu Bharat Scouts and Guides, equipped with modern training facilities, at an estimated cost of ₹10 crore. This initiative aims to facilitate the training of more teachers and encourage greater participation of school students in the scout movement.
Addressing the closing ceremony of the Bharat Scouts and Guides Diamond Jubilee Jamboree 2025 and the Muthamizh Arignar Kalaignar Centenary Commemoration Jamboree, Stalin emphasized the significance of the scout movement in fostering patriotism and social unity. He noted that out of the 80 lakh students involved in the Bharat Scouts and Guides across India, 12 lakh students hail from Tamil Nadu alone, making up one-eighth of the total participation.
Tamil Nadu’s Leading Role in the Scout Movement
The Chief Minister highlighted Tamil Nadu’s notable contribution to the Bharat Scouts and Guides movement and stressed the need for expanding training facilities. “To enable the training of more teachers and to involve more students in our schools in the scout movement, a new headquarters will be established with state-of-the-art training amenities,” he announced.Stalin lauded the efforts taken to organize the jamboree event on a grand scale. The government had set up 33 sub-committees to ensure its success, with over 20,000 scouts and guides from Tamil Nadu, other states, and abroad participating. The event featured cultural performances and interactive sessions aimed at fostering discipline and teamwork among the students.
Extensive Infrastructure for the Jamboree Event
For the grand gathering, a total of 2,422 tents were erected, including:- 1,000 tents for scouts
- 900 tents for guides
- 450 tents for tri-scouts
- 40 tents for central and state government officials
- 32 tents for office work
Education Initiatives Under Stalin’s Government
Stalin also highlighted several key educational initiatives implemented under his leadership, including:- Distribution of laptops to 80,000 teachers
- Establishment of 22,931 smart classrooms
- Setting up of 8,209 high-tech labs
The Bharat Scouts and Guides Diamond Jubilee Jamboree 2025 concluded on Sunday in Tiruchirappalli, marking a landmark event in the state’s efforts to promote student engagement, discipline, and holistic education.
