Gorakhpur, February 26: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath dedicated Maha Shivratri to the worship of Lord Shiva, performing sacred rituals across several prominent temples in Gorakhpur.
As the Gorakshpeethadhishwar, Adityanath commenced his day at the Gorakhnath Temple, conducting the ‘Rudrabhishek’ of Lord Shiva using cow’s milk at the Shakti Temple. He also performed a ‘havan’ and offered ‘aarti’ before paying homage to Lord Nandi and conducting ‘Jalabhishek’ at the Shiva Temple within the Gorakhnath complex.
Recognizing Guru Gorakhnath as an incarnation of Lord Shiva within the Nath tradition, Adityanath highlighted the temple’s dedication to public welfare.
Following his rituals at Gorakhnath Temple, the chief minister visited four major Shiva temples in the district—Manasarovar Shiv Temple in Andhiyari Bagh, Mukteshwar Nath Temple in Rajghat, Jharkhandi Mahadev Temple, and the historic Piteshwar Nath Temple in Bharohiya.
During his visits, Adityanath reviewed security arrangements, ensured cleanliness, and interacted with devotees, inquiring about their well-being. He also planted Harishankari trees (Peepal, Banyan, and Pakar) on the temple premises as part of an environmental initiative. Additionally, he assessed the Tourism Department’s temple beautification project and provided necessary guidelines for its execution.
Concluding the day, the chief minister met local residents at Guru Gorakhnath Vidyapeeth and engaged with them regarding their concerns.
