Lucknow, March 4: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken strict action against the Ansal Group, ordering the registration of an FIR against the company after the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) initiated insolvency proceedings against it. The move aims to safeguard the interests of homebuyers and hold the company accountable for alleged fraudulent activities.

Legal Action Against Ansal Group

During a high-level review meeting of the Housing and Urban Planning Department, CM Adityanath made it clear that deceptive practices affecting homebuyers would not be tolerated. He instructed officials to ensure FIRs are registered across all districts where similar complaints against the Ansal Group have surfaced, taking cues from the action in Lucknow.

A special committee, comprising members of the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) and aggrieved homebuyers, has been formed to compile strong evidence against the company. The committee's findings will be presented in court to strengthen the case and ensure stringent legal action.

NCLAT Order Challenged

Officials briefed the Chief Minister that the NCLAT's insolvency order was passed without prior notice to the Lucknow Development Authority and the Housing Department. Expressing strong disapproval, CM Adityanath directed that an appeal be filed against the decision in the wider public interest.

Housing & Urban Development Reforms

Beyond the Ansal Group case, CM Adityanath also reviewed various urban development projects and key initiatives:

  • Metro Project Updates: He assessed the operational progress of Kanpur Metro, Lucknow Metro, and Agra Metro, instructing officials to accelerate corridor construction for timely completion.
  • One-Trillion-Dollar Economy Roadmap:The state is pushing forward with ambitious economic goals, including:
    • Development of 100 new townships.
    • Digitization of administrative processes.

    • Allocation of land for 100 hotels and 100 hospitals.
  • Urban Slum Redevelopment: CM Adityanath directed the Housing Development Board to construct high-quality residential units, parks, and gyms in urban slum areas, promoting planned urbanization.

Planned Development & Infrastructure Boost

To curb unplanned urban expansion, the Chief Minister emphasized the need for GIS-based master plans across districts, setting a March deadline for their identification and implementation.

He also directed officials to speed up land acquisition for key projects, including the Agra Inner Ring Road Rahnkala and Raipur project, ensuring smooth coordination with local farmers.

Fast-Tracking Key Urban Projects

Several major urban expansion projects were also reviewed, with the Chief Minister pushing for rapid execution in cities like Jhansi, Bareilly, Aligarh, Gorakhpur, Bulandshahr, Chitrakoot, and Agra under the Chief Minister Urban Expansion New City Promotion Scheme.

Additionally, he ordered expedited construction of the International Exhibition and Convention Centre in Lucknow, ensuring all scheduled works are completed on time.

Conclusion

With these directives, CM Yogi Adityanath has reinforced his commitment to protecting homebuyers, ensuring planned urban growth, and fast-tracking key infrastructure projects. The legal action against the Ansal Group signals a zero-tolerance policy against real estate fraud, while the broader urban planning initiatives aim to transform Uttar Pradesh into a structured and economically progressive state.
