CM Yogi Adityanath Urges Teachers to Instill ‘Nation First’ Spirit in Students

Calls for value-based education at ‘Shikshak Dhanyavaad’ ceremony in Lucknow

Lucknow, May 10 — Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday emphasized the need for education that nurtures patriotism and moral values, urging teachers to inculcate the spirit of “Nation First” in their students.

Speaking at the ‘Shikshak Dhanyavaad’ ceremony held at City Montessori School (CMS) in Lucknow, the Chief Minister asserted that prioritizing the nation should be the aim of every citizen—not just the leadership, armed forces, or administration.

“Every citizen's goal should be ‘Nation First’... Teachers must teach with that spirit,” Adityanath said. “The new generation in every field will become the foundation of Viksit Bharat (Developed India).”
He highlighted that education must go beyond academic achievement and focus on building character and values. According to Adityanath, true education should aim to shape lives that are “useful to the country and inspiring to society.”

Cultural values as educational tools

Praising a student performance titled ‘Adi Yogi’, the Chief Minister said cultural programmes like this help students connect with India's heritage, traditions, and values.

“Our mythological stories are not just for entertainment, but a medium to teach the values of life,” he said, linking the performance to the larger cultural narrative leading up to the Maha Kumbh.

Recognition and encouragement

In a post shared later on social media platform X, Adityanath wrote in Hindi:

“Participated in the ‘Shikshak Dhanyavaad’ Ceremony at CMS, Lucknow. On this occasion, I rewarded meritorious students and encouraged them.”
He reiterated his belief that integrating education with Indian culture, nationalism, and traditions is essential for building a stronger society.

“Hearty congratulations to the CMS family and best wishes to the students for a bright future!” he added.
