Ramgarh, February 12 Armed criminals opened fire at the residence of two coal traders in Ramgarh district, Jharkhand, police said on Thursday.
The incident occurred around midnight in Saunda Basti.
SP Ajay Kumar told PTI that four men on motorcycles fired shots, and "their apparent motive is to instill fear in coal traders in order to extort money".
DIG (Hazaribag) Anjani Kumar Jha has directed police to form an SIT to investigate the incident and apprehend the perpetrators.
The investigation is ongoing.
